Incision or Wound Care Please monitor the incision site for excessive redness, swelling or discharge. Be sure to examine the incision today so any changes can be noted. Minor discharge can be gently cleaned with hydrogen peroxide and cotton. Discourage any licking of the incision by either the patient or other pets! Pets may have to be kept separate if their house-mates can't resist licking the site. The patient may need to wear and E-collar to limit reaching the incision site. If any above problems are noted, please contact us for further directions. Bathing is not recommended for 10-14 days after surgery. Please limit your pet's activity to decrease tension across and swelling of the wound and in order to minimize pain and allow healing. Other pets and children may need to have limited access to maintain calm. |
